Don’t forget that Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, so shop at the Hub and turn in those receipts! If you need a new collection bag, please let the office know and we will get you one. Remember, all you have to do is shop, turn in the receipts, and I will do the rest. Thanks, Lenora Garcia

Christmas Boutique Update:  Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to help for the Christmas Boutique on Friday, December 5, 2008.  As of now I have plenty of Santa's Helpers to make the day run smoothly. If you would still like to help out with this event, I need volunteers on Monday, December 1, 2008 to count the inventory at 8:00am in the Small Hall and Set-Up for the event on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:30pm in the Small Hall.  We also need donations of paper bags with handles, which can be left at the school office. New Year's Eve Plans?  Have nothing planned for New Year's Eve yet?  Then come and join the Holy Spirit Filipino Society for our annual New Year's Eve dinner/dance fund-raiser!  The Society has been hosting this dance for over 20 years now, and would love to be your host as we ring in the New Year to the sounds of "Night Life." Proceeds from this dance will help with the new Smart Key installation in the church, and our parish school.

Tickets are just $35 each, and include a buffet dinner, dancing, and champagne with pan de sal (Filipino bread) at midnight!  We've also got plenty of free parking, and look forward to seeing everyone there!  The officers (all of whom are either school parents or alumni) and members of the Society hope to see you there! For tickets and information, please contact Rob Paglieri at 324-4877, or email the Society at hsfilipinosociety@yahoo.com.

NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Hello Parents and Students,

This weekend will be the last Sunday of the liturgical year known as the Feast of Christ the King.   The Gospel is from Matthew 25: 31-46.  If you are able, read it before you go to Mass on November 22 or 23. Jesus tells us that we shouldn’t let people suffer; we must reach out to them.  Jesus is not suggesting or encouraging us to respond; he is demanding that we do this. He states that God will judge us as to how well we care for those who are disadvantaged.

What Parish Ministry do you belong to at Holy Spirit? Do you donate time, talent or treasure to Holy Spirit School, Parish or our community?  Have you made donations of school supplies for St Jarlath School; donated for Denim Day–Breast Cancer; brought pet food and supplies for animal shelters; socks for Tri-City Homeless Shelter; or food for St. Vincent de Paul Society to help those who need assistance especially during November and December? Will you  “Share Christmas” and buy a gift for those who would not have any; “BlowYour Top” to help children with cancer; or contribute to “Penny Power” to help with FACE Scholarships?  Are you a member of the “Sandwich or Cookie Squad?”  Have you joined the new Social Justice Committee?  Are you kind to your classmates, teachers, and parents?  Do you show respect for all of God’s creations?

Mother Teresa said, “ Charity begins today. Today somebody is suffering, today somebody is in the street, today somebody is hungry.  Our work is for today, yesterday has gone, tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today to make Jesus known, loved, served, fed, clothed, sheltered. Do not wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow we will not have them if we do not feed them today.”

At this Thanksgiving “ May an abundance of gratitude burst forth as you reflect upon what you have received. May thanksgiving overflow in your heart, and often be proclaimed in prayer.” ~Joyce Rupp~

May the blessings you receive be shared with many at this time of Thanksgiving!

Blessings and a Happy Thanksgiving to all ~
