If anyone is interested please email Jason Reed at bigpants141@comcast.net or call 510-742-2252.
Parking and Security also needs volunteers. This will count towards festival hours. If you can help, please contact Marianne Adams, 429-0444, jamadams@pacbell.net, or contact her through the school office.
ATTENTION…ATTENTION: Field Day is coming up soon and we need some help. Volunteers are needed to help serve food to the students on June 10, 2008 so sign up and help at this FUN event! Contact Kelly Hopkins at kellyhopkins@kw.com or 510-366-7695 for details.

NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Dear Parents and Students,
During this week of teacher appreciation I would like to THANK all of the teachers and staff of Holy Spirit School who work so diligently to bring a faith-filled environment and quality education to all of our students from Preschool through 8th grade. I thank you for all you do and ask God’s blessings to be with you always.
I also wish to thank all of our parents who have been involved in all our fundraising. We enjoyed another eventful and successful year. Thank you to all who have helped at lunches, in the classroom, and on field trips; attended children’s Masses, programs, meetings and worked on committees; and especially supported the teachers and your children and all the children at Holy Spirit School.
In addition, I would like to thank all who serve on the Holy Spirit School Board and the Parent Club. We have succeeded in our goals this year with your help. THANK YOU!
I would like to thank Members of our School Board who have served our school and our students and are at the end of their term: Suzanne Bradshaw who has served as the Board Chair for the last 2-years, vice-chair, chair of Finance and PR Committees; David Renfro who has been the vice-chair and chair of Mission Enhancement, Policy & Planning Committee and also secretary of the School Board; and Jeff Hooper who has served as Chair of the Technology & Building and Grounds Committee.
"In addition, the school should try to involve the family as much as possible in the educational aims of the school - both in helping to plan these goals and in helping to achieve them. Experience shows that parents who were once totally unaware of their role can be transformed into excellent partners." (The Religious Dimension of Education in a Catholic School, 1988, #43)
I would encourage you to volunteer to be on the Parent Club and be involved in the “fun” and “fund” raising activities or as a Room Parent for the 2008-2009 school year. It is a wonderful way to be involved and partner in your child’s education at Holy Spirit School.
Last of all, I’d like to thank Mrs. Hancock for her five years of teaching music at Holy Spirit School. We will miss her when she moves on to other parish and school music ministries in the Oakland Dioceses.
Blessings
Susan C. Buchanan
