CASH CALENDAR: Our $100.00 Cash Calendar winner for this week is Thomas Gisler, father of Joseph in Grade 5, and Brayden in Grade 3. Congratulations! Remember, every ticket purchased is eligible for each drawing, even if it has won before. If you have not purchased the mandatory $300.00 worth of Cash Calendar tickets, payment is due in the office now. Please refer to your April tuition statement for the correct amount owed.
DID YOU KNOW? It would take a purchase of almost $4,500.00 worth of Starbuck’s scrip to earn a $300.00 profit for Holy Spirit School. You would have to purchase $10,000.00 of Safeway scrip to earn a $300.00 profit for Holy Spirit School. Our Scrip program is extremely important to us, however, without your Cash Calendar donations of $300.00 per family we would have to raise tuition rates even higher. There are still 3 more $100.00 Cash Calendar drawings this year, as well as, one more $1,000.00 drawing on the last day of school. Good luck!
SURVEY INFORMATION: There is a very brief survey in you Family envelope. It is short but highly important for Title and Grant funding. Please take a few minutes to fill this out and return it to the school office in your Family Envelope. Thank you.
EXTENDED CARE NEWS: ATTENTION! On the last day of school, Thursday, June 12, 2008, Extended Care hours will be from 10:15 am until 3:00 pm only. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at 510-791-6318. Thanks!
FUN WALK/RUN RAFFLE: Don’t forget to sell or purchase the raffle tickets to win the LaDainian Tomlinson autographed football! The tickets were sent home 4/23/08. The raffle will take place on Friday, May 30, 2008 at morning announcements. Thank you for your support.
ATTENTION…ATTENTION: Field Day is coming up soon and we need some help. Volunteers are needed to help serve food to the students on June 10, 2008 so sign up and help at this FUN event! Contact Kelly Hopkins at kellyhopkins@kw.com or 510-366-7695 for details.
RECYCLE FIRST COMMUNION DRESSES; Our neighboring parish, St. Joseph, is collecting First Communion dresses for their sister parish, Santa Maria del Camino in Guatemala City. Santa Maria del Camino serves a very large and extremely poor community. If you can help, please bring the First Communion items to the school office by May 30. St. Joseph parishioners will carry the items with them when they visit Guatemala in June.
CYO GIRLS BASKETBALL DIOCESAN FINALS: Congratulations!!! Holy Spirit Team 6Red has advanced to the Diocesan Finals versus St. Clement School. This is a great compliment to the Southern Alameda County (SAC) league as St. Clement and Holy Spirit Red finished the year tied for first and we are now guaranteed to bring the SAC league a title. Our game is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st, 7:30 pm at St. Joachim, located at 21250 Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward. We would love to have as much support as possible as we play our final game of the season. Wear something red to support Holy Spirit. Congratulations to Dana Acoba, Nnenna Ajawara, Aryssa Bembo, Briana Booker, Aranya Gairola, Nicolette Herbert, Summer Jones, Morgan Ramee, Kathryn Shim, Arielle Visperas, and Lauren Youhanna.
GO TEAM SPARTANS! See you there.
CYO GIRLS BASKETBALL JAMBOREE: On Thursday, May 22nd at 6:00pm is our End of the Season Girls Basketball Jamboree at the Holy Spirit School Gym. Please join in on the festivities as the players will receive end of the year awards, enjoy the company of the other teams, and have a great time. The snack bar will be open for dinner and will offer pizza, hot dogs, nachos, chili, and lumpia. So bring the entire family and join in on congratulating all the teams on a successful 2008 Basketball Season.
LOST AND FOUND: Our Lost and Found barrel is once again overflowing. This Friday all unclaimed uniform items will be sent to uniform exchange. All other items will be bundled up and donated to charity. Please check through the lost and found in the school lobby for any lost items.
NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Dear Parents and Students,
I hope you enjoyed the Holy Spirit Festival this weekend. This was my third HS Festival. My first year, I arrived in time to watch the parade, attend Mass, taste the food and see the booths and events that are part of the Festival. This year’s Festival was even better for me because I know so many of you now. My husband, Bill, also attended this year.
The following reflection is from Joyce Rupp’s book “Out of the Ordinary.”
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
“Surprising One, coming in ways I least expect, open me to your dynamic presence.
Perceptive Guide, always available to direct my ways, advise me in self-discipline and decision-making.
Freedom Bringer, asking for my willingness to surrender, help me to let go, let in, to let be.
Source of Power, providing stamina and strength for my soul, support me when I am weak and vulnerable.
Arousing One, stirring up what is dead or stale, urge my stagnant, sleeping gifts into life.
Divine Transformer, encouraging continued growth, grant me both patience and acceptance.
Peacemaker, offering forgivingness and understanding, encouraging me to communicate with love.
Bearer of Love, never-ending font of charity and compassion, may I share my goodness generously.”
Blessings of the Holy Spirit be with you
