SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Your Cash Calendar tickets went home last week in your Family Envelope.  You may begin selling or purchasing the tickets now, and all tickets must be sold or purchased by February 27, 2009. Each family is responsible for 30 tickets at $10.00 each ($300.00 total).

SCRIP NEWS:   On the back of your SCRIP order form in your Family Envelope, are some gift ideas for Dads and Grads using SCRIP gift cards. June 5th will be the last day to place Special Orders for this school year. Always keep SCRIP in mind when planning for the summer months. We have plenty of gas cards on hand as well as Burger King, Wendy’s, Jack in the Box, Carl’s Jr. and KFC for quick lunches while you’re on the road. Will you or your children be attending summer birthday parties? How about Toys R Us, Best Buy or Borders gift cards. All these cards come in handy for every vacation and special occasion!

SCHOOLPOP.COM Remember, when shopping on-line, go through Schoolpop.com and you can shop at hundreds of merchants and you not only save time and money, but our school will receive up to a 22.5% contribution on every purchase. Stores such as Barnes & Noble, Target, Land’s End and Shutterfly are only a few of the many stores available. Give it a try and Holy Spirit School will benefit. Thanks.

CAFE ESPIRITU: Café Espiritu will be closed for the remainder of this school year. It will re-open in the fall.

FAMILY BIBLE WEEK: Don’t forget to send in your Family Bible Week Registration. Forms are in your Family Envelope. There are many fun activities planned for your children and a wonderful speaker for the adults. Catered dinners for all four nights are included in the registration fees. June 10 is the last day to sign-up.

FUN WALK/RUN RAFFLE: The “LaDainian Tomlinson” autographed football was won by Mrs. Borromeo, whose son Julian is in Grade 3. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who supported this raffle. Proceeds will go to our PE program.

FAME (Fine Arts Mini Experience) 2008: A HUGE thank you goes out to our parent volunteers who made this year another success for our FAME program. The enthusiasm and creativity of these parents made those “FAME DAYS” lots of fun for our students. Thanks go out to:  Vanessa Barrett, Ray Urbi, Guilnard Moufarrej, Phyllis Bright, Margaret McKinley, Johna Coulthard, and Carmen Moeller.  You are all wonderful!! Monica Slivinsky (FAME Coordinator).

CLEAN-UP DAY:  It us time to start taking sign-ups for our annual clean-up day for next fall.  Clean-up day will be from 8:30 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, August 16th. It’s a great way to start getting your parent hours done, and we will have a fun morning getting the school ready for our beloved teachers.  If you have an older student (4th-8th grade), this will also be a way for them to get started on their service hours as well. We will need lots of help to clean everything, so please sign up if you are available that day. You can sign up by sending an email to barney168@sbcglobal.net. Thanks for your help.

ATTENTION…ATTENTION: Field Day is coming up soon and we need some help.  Volunteers are needed to help serve food to the students on June 10, 2008 so sign up and help at this FUN event! Contact Kelly Hopkins at kellyhopkins@kw.com or 510-366-7695 for details.

PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS: Please remember to save BOXTOPS for Education over the summer. We will be collecting the Box tops in early fall. Thanks.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO WIN 2 TICKETS, AIRFARE & ACCOMMODATIONS TO THE ALL-STAR GAME AT YANKEE STADIUM? All participants at our Parish Blood Drive on Sunday, June 22nd will receive a chance to win this wonderful opportunity and they will also receive a special Blood Donor All Star T-shirt! NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

Dear Parents and Students,

First of all, I would like to congratulate all of our 2008 Graduates and their parents.  Please remember even though one phase of your life will change, for some it has been11 years of being students at HS Preschool and School, you are always part of our family and members of Holy Spirit Parish.  We ask you to keep us informed of how you are doing and visit us when possible.  We ask God to bless you in all you do!

Parent club has included a survey requesting your in-put to the use of some of the money from “fun” raisers.  Please return this in the “Wednesday Envelope” on Thursday, June 5, 2008.  I thank you for all of your time and talent that has helped HSS this year!

In closing, please join us on Wednesday, June 11 at 11:00 AM for the Awards and on Thursday, June 12 at 9:30 for our closing prayer service.

Blessings,

Susan C. Buchanan
