2012-2013
Admissions
Dear Potential Holy Spirit Catholic School Family,
Thank you for considering Holy Spirit Catholic School to assist you in the education of your child. Holy Spirit School is dedicated to developing the whole child by providing a quality Catholic education in a safe and caring environment for all of our students in Preschool through Eighth Grade.
Because of our dedicated faculty and high level of parent involvement, our students benefit from various learning experiences and programs including physical education, art, music, and field trips. A few highlights of our campus include our Preschool, the Science Lab, media learning with MacBooks and iPads, shaded outdoor seating for student lunch area, a new roof on our gym, and new tile throughout the main campus. We hope that you will browse our website to see what else our school offers our student community.
Holy Spirit School is a part of the Holy Spirit parish and gives consideration to families wishing to enroll their child in this order:
Priority 1: Children who have siblings already attending Holy Spirit Catholic School.
Priority 2: Children of Holy Spirit Parishioners who are attending Holy Spirit Preschool.
Priority 3: Students whose families share their time, talent and treasure by being registered parishioners, attending Mass and making donations regularly, being actively involved in parish ministries, and whose registration forms are submitted by the required dates.
Priority 4: Transferring Catholic School students whose families register in the parish and become active parishioners.
Priority 5: Catholic students from outside the parish who will support the school.
Priority 6: Students who by their behavior and attitude demonstrate an acceptance of the Holy Spirit Catholic School mission and philosophy will be admitted.
All forms must be filled out completely and returned to the school. There is a $20.00 application-processing fee. All applications will be sent to the parish office for verification before screening is scheduled. All applications must be submitted no later than February 24th. Kindergarten testing will be in March and other grades with available spaces will have testing in May.
Admission to Kindergarten will be determined by two factors following the determination of priority status listed above:
1. The applicant must be five years of age by September 1st of the academic year that they are seeking admission. Holy Spirit School has made it our policy to use the September 1st cut-off, as have many schools. The State of California will soon be using this September 1st cut-off date.
2. The applicant (student) must demonstrate age-appropriate developmental maturity as determined by the Kindergarten teacher.
You will be notified by mail to inform you that either your child has been scheduled for screening or your child has been placed on a waiting list due to insufficient space.
Thank you for your interest in Holy Spirit Catholic School. We, the staff of Holy Spirit School, look forward to working with you in the months and years to come.
Blessings and prayers,
Susan C. Buchanan
