J.R. Abueg

Picture
Though not a graduate of Holy Spirit School, J.R. Abueg continues to have fond memories of his years at Holy Spirit, "my attendance at Boston University would not have been possible if not for the values and education Holy Spirit instilled in me.  I still have many fond memories of my time in Fremont."

Currently, he is a political science major at Boston University, with the intention to get involved in policy making in the government as well as a cadet with the United States Army Reserved Officer Training Corps (ROTC).

After Holy Spirit School, he moved on to graduate from Dougherty Valley High School (DVHS) with highest honors, given to those who have maintained a steady GPA over 3.5 for four years.

In 2011, he was one of 45 students in the United States selected to attend the Youth Education Summit sponsored by the NRA heritage fund to fly out to Washington D.C. and learn more about our government.  There, he received the award for best debater and a scholarship for $1000.   In 2010, he created and co-facilitated the Dougherty Valley High School Summer Speech Institute which, in the past summer, had an attendance of nearly 200 students from the San Ramon Valley area.  In speech and debate, he also founded the Parliamentary Debate section of DVHS which is now recognized as one of the top 25 high school debate teams in California.

Congratulations, J.R., we are so proud of your accomplishments!
