8th Grade's Journey to Yosemite
The eighth grade trip to Yosemite is hosted by Yosemite Institute (YI). In partnership with the National Park Service, Yosemite Institute provides our students with educational programs to experience the natural beauty of Yosemite National Park. For almost four decades, Yosemite Institute has provided quality educational programs based on their core educational framework of sense of place, interconnections, and stewardship.
With experienced field educators and Holy Spirit chaperones, the eighth grade students are educated about science, cooperation, leadership skills, problem-solving, active citizenship and stewardship. Students learn about their environment, in addition to their personal connection to nature, its inhabitants and environment. We incorporate our Catholic faith and values with prayers, rituals, and reflections, along with their Yosemite experience. Students also participate in fun and engaging team-building and interpersonal skills and behaviors.
It's one exceptional journey that has been a tradition of Holy Spirit School that eighth graders will continue to cherish for many years.
