Holy Spirit Kindergarten
The Holy Spirit Kindergarten class is a full day program that follows the same 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. schedule as the rest of the school. The class size can go up to 36 students.
Mrs. Ann Marie Drabin has been the Kindergarten teacher for 26 years, with Miss Lanette Gonzalez as her full-time aide for 16 years.
The morning time is more structured, with Opening, Reading/Language Arts, Handwriting, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The afternoon has Quiet Time, Sharing, Playtime, last recess, and Religion. Religion is the last subject of the day, but it is infused throughout the day. Kindergarteners also have P.E. three times a week, and weekly classes in Computer, Library, Art, and Music.
The kindergarteners learn a lot throughout the year. They grow in their love of God and their classmates. They learn letters, sounds, sight words, short vowels, and long vowels. They have strong number concepts up to 100. They learn about the world around us. They enjoy four field trips each year, and have exciting evening activities with their parents, learning games about sight words and Math. They put on a show to sing and spell sight words, and they put on a musical play each spring. Holy Spirit Kindergarten is definitely where the kinders grow!
Applications are now being accepted for next year's class. Come and visit our school's Open House on Sunday, January 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The Kindergarten Information Night will be for parents only on Tuesday, January 31 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Kindergarten classroom. Come visit us, and Catch the Spirit!
